MONROE, Iowa—Six churches from the southeast region of the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches combined for a worship service on Good Friday.
Meeting at First Baptist Church of Monroe were Faith Baptist of Knoxville, Berean Baptist of Pella, Bethel Baptist of Oskaloosa, Immanuel Baptist of Newton, and Calvary Baptist of Grinnell.
Each of the pastors led the congregation in a different aspect of worship, including prayer, Scripture reading, singing, and preaching.
The highlight of the service was fellowship around the Lord’s Table, led by Bruce Thompson, pastor of Berean Baptist Church of Pella. He challenged the churches to “do this in remembrance of Me,” an especially timely encouragement on a weekend set aside to remember the Savior’s death and resurrection.
“The united time of worship and fellowship with other sister churches was incredibly encouraging,” says Josh Palma, pastor of First Baptist Church of Monroe. “The spirit before, during, and after the service was so sweet as many believers who don’t often see one another gathered to remember what Jesus did for us on the cross.”
