SPRING HILL, Fla.—A favorite annual event for Spring Hill Baptist Church is its Easter EGGstravaganza. The church family began hosting the event three years ago as a way to celebrate the resurrection of Christ with its church family and community.
Chris Wheeler, youth and family pastor, says, “Each year this event grows EGGsponentially as we have seen the attendance numbers grow from 300 to 1,100 people and our number of eggs grow to 10,000.
“Everyone loves a smiling face, and there were certainly many smiles this day as the children and their families enjoyed the egg hunt, giant inflatable slides, an obstacle courses, carnival games, and a presentation of ‘Arise’ by Spring Hill Baptist’s ‘stick choir.'”
For the first time, a Blood Mobile was on the scene. People were challenged to give their blood to save a life as Christ gave His blood to save our lives. The Blood Mobile team was hoping at least eight people would give blood, and they were overwhelmed with 37 people.
Pastor Wheeler said that the community has responded positively to the Easter EGGstravaganza by sending e-mails and posting on social media. One mom responded with this e-mail: “I hope you continue your wonderful hunt for years to come! Thanks for making my daughter’s day and putting on a wonderful hunt for the community!”
