Worship Service Honors Retired Pastors and Their Wives

OTTUMWA, Iowa—North Court Baptist Church considers itself privileged to have as members four retired pastors and their wives. Among them, the pastors have over 133 years of ministry experience.

The church recently held a worship service to honor the four couples: Ron and Beverly Abbas, Stephen and Laurie Bartle, Melvin and Fern Mattox, and Peter and Marian Watt. “We are grateful for the ministries of encouragement and prayer which each of them continue for our church family,” says Pastor Roger Hemmings.

Serving the Lord, as well as one another, is a necessity and should be a joy, Hemmings pointed out in his message. He also talked about the responsibilities of pastors. Later each of the men shared a highlight of his ministry.

Hemmings says, “We are rich in the blessings of our Lord.”
