FAIRFIELD GLADE, Tenn.—Fellowship Baptist Church has called David Melton as pastor. The church had been praying since June 2012 that it would find a full-time pastor.
In February, David Melton answered the church’s call. He has been in the ministry for 40 years, most recently as pastor of a church he founded in Van Buren, Ohio, in 1993. He and his wife, Sherrie, had planned to relocate to Iowa to be closer to their grandchildren, but he says, “The Lord changed my heart and direction.”
On April 12, Melton’s first Sunday at the church, the Holy Spirit moved within the congregation as he delivered his message “A House United.” An installation service was held that afternoon, with Dick Moran, interim pastor, delivering the charge to the congregation. A joyful reception followed, bringing praise to a day the church family had longed for and will not soon forget.
