AMHERST, Ohio—An organized food fight at Faith Baptist Church served as an outreach event for teens. “It was a blast,” says Youth Pastor Cory Prosowski.
Food for a local food pantry served as an entry fee. The 23 teens who attended (about half of whom were unsaved) were instructed to bring one canned or boxed good to be donated to replace food that was used in the fight.
Then in the back field of the church, in a designated zone for easy cleanup, it was guys against girls as the students hurled food at each other: jello, pudding, corn, ketchup and mustard, mashed potatoes, spaghetti, frosted cake, and flour.
“We spaced the fight out one food at a time and selected randomly out of a hat,” Prosowski says.
Afterward the food fight, a hose, baby shampoo, and a big Slip ‘n Slide were available for the teens to clean themselves off.
