Sportsmen’s Banquet Points People to Christ

MAINE, N.Y.—First Baptist Church held its second ever outreach to those who love hunting and the outdoors. The church called the event Bucks, Beards, and BBQ. “This is an event that the whole family can enjoy,” says Pastor Jim Barnes.

The church encouraged members to bring unsaved guests with them and pay for their tickets to attend. “We want our people to get a vision for reaching out to those who need to hear the gospel,” Barnes says.

Don Long, a longtime friend of Barnes’s and the retired representative of Shepherds Ministries, spoke during the event. He gave “a clear gospel presentation weaved in with a thrilling hunting adventure,” Barnes says. He continues, “We are rejoicing, as seven individuals indicated that they prayed to receive Christ. Now the real work begins: follow-up!”
