Retreat Challenges Women to Guard Their Hearts

LOWPOINT, Ill.—Women from Illinois and Missouri churches met for a retreat at Camp Manitoumi Sept. 6–7. Misty Beutow, wife of Pastor Josh Beutow from Grace Baptist Church, Tremont, Illinois, spoke on the topic “Above All Else, Guard Your Heart.”

In her sessions, Misty drew from Proverbs 4:23: “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” She encouraged the women to guard their hearts in three areas: what we believe about God, others, and ourselves.

“What we choose to believe about these three areas will determine the course our lives take,” she says. “What we believe affects our behavior.”

Misty also challenged the women to share the gospel with others. Many people today don’t know God, she says. “They have heard of God, but they do not know that He is real. And it is our responsibility to show them that God is a God of love. That He is always only good. And that He is enough.”
