Prayer Retreat a Highlight for Many Northwest Pastors

CARNATION, Wash.—Pastors of Baptist Network Northwest churches attended the association’s three-day prayer retreat at Camp Gilead. “This was my fourth time to the BNN Prayer Summit, and each one has been a highlight of my pastoral experience,” says Randy Cook, pastor of Meridian (Idaho) First Baptist Church. “It’s great to pray through Scripture with men who have the same interests and motivations for ministry.”

The theme of the retreat was “Praying through Philippians.” Seven prayer sessions focused on praying through the themes of this epistle.

“The transparency and intimacy of this event made it a highlight for many,” says Tim Baker, pastor of Bethany Baptist Church, Salem, Oregon. Rich Dover, pastor of Seattle Open Door Church, appreciates that both younger and older pastors attended. Regardless of their generation, he says, they were all “open and vulnerable about their fears, struggles, and their need to grow in Christ. This quality produces a great atmosphere for prayer. I always look forward to the prayer retreat.”
