MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—First Baptist Church officially welcomed Kevin A. Pierpont as pastor Nov. 9, celebrating God’s answers to prayer and the unanimous calling of the Pierponts.
Many members of the Pierpont family joined the congregation for the morning worship service and the evening installation service.
Kevin’s father, Kenneth, pastor of South Litchfield Baptist Church, Litchfield, Mich., preached the morning message as a charge to the congregation, and Kevin’s brother Nathan, worship pastor at Northeastern Baptist Church, Kalamazoo, Mich., provided the charge to the new pastor in the evening. Also participating in the installation service were Kevin’s brother Ken, pastor of Evangel Baptist Church, Taylor, Mich.; his eldest son, Kevin; and his brother-in-law, Jim Evans, pastor of First Baptist Church, Bear Lake, Mich. Kevin, Nathan, Ken, and their sister, Melony, sang as a quartet in the evening service.
Edwin DuBois, pastor of First Baptist Church from 1951 to 1965, opened the installation service in prayer.
Kevin and his wife, Carolyn, previously served for nearly 12 years at Higgins Lake Baptist Church, Roscommon, Mich. In relocating to Mount Pleasant, Carolyn returns to her family’s spiritual roots. Her mother, who is now with the Lord, grew up in Mount Pleasant and trusted Christ as her Savior through the ministry of First Baptist Church when she was young.
Kevin and Carolyn have been married since 1987 and have eight children, two daughters-in-law, and one adorable granddaughter.
