MAYVILLE, N.Y.—First Baptist Church is making sure its community keeps warm this winter. The church set up a clothesline outside its building and hung on the line bags containing hats, gloves, scarves, and children’s coats for people to take for free. A sign on the line reads “Please take what you need; leave if you can.” Hearing about the initiative, led by the church’s youth group, one person said, “Now that’s community.”
