BelfastNY_inlineBELFAST, N.Y.—First Baptist Church is headed toward change—and it is headed there together.

First Baptist has been in existence since 1811. In 2015, the congregation voted to participate in a program called New Life Church Revitalization in partnership with the Northeast Fellowship of Independent Baptist Churches and Central Baptist Church in Yorkshire, New York. As part of this initiative, First Baptist called Kyle Franklin as revitalization pastor. Franklin, a graduate of Baptist Bible Seminary, has a passion “for helping churches look outside their front door.” He is leading the church through changes that will make it healthy again and that will reach the people of Belfast with the love of Christ.

“Our goal is to be a multigenerational church,” Franklin says. To celebrate and promote its retooling, First Baptist held a launch service Aug. 23 and invited local churches to participate. Almost 150 people attended. First Baptist is looking forward to seeing what God will do in the coming years. Franklin says, “FBC is not a large church (yet), but they are a church full of love.”
