IowaCityIA2_inlineIOWA CITY, Iowa—With great joy and thankfulness, Faith Baptist Church celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Services started with an open house on Saturday afternoon, April 25, with people renewing fellowship and remembering God’s work of grace at Faith Baptist. A meal was served at 4:00, followed by a worship service at 6:00. Attendees heard special music, touching testimonies, and a clear challenge from God’s Word by John Sauser, pastor from 1986 to 2001.IowaCityIA_thumb

Two men spoke the next morning: Tim Barrett, Faith Baptist’s first pastor, serving from 1963 to 1968, and Tom Miller, who served at Faith Baptist Church through Campus Bible Fellowship at the University of Iowa from 1982 to 2001. A banquet with plenty of fellowship time took place after the morning worship service.

“We are greatly encouraged by Hebrews 12:1 and 2 to look to Jesus as we run our race of faith with endurance,” says Pastor Tim Waldron.

“The weekend celebration was a clear reminder that God, by His grace, has used Faith Baptist Church of Iowa City to make disciples of all the nations, and those disciples are now scattered throughout the world. Faith Baptist Church is deeply grateful for God’s sovereign work in and through this church. We praise God for the many believers who have run the race with endurance by looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith!”
