DES MOINES, Iowa—“God’s way is always perfect!” says Pastor Philip Kramer of Norwoodville Baptist Church. For over 75 years, Norwoodville Baptist Church has been impacting the northeast side of Des Moines with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Several pastors have led the church throughout its history, but Kramer is unique among them.
Called to the church on Sept. 5, 2007, Kramer ministered as a single pastor until he married on July 12, 2014. In the fall of 2013, God saw fit to bring a godly young lady into his life. Upon the suggestion of a mutual friend, he became reacquainted with Kayla Gerhardt, the daughter of Pastor David and Peggy Gerhardt of Calvary Baptist Church, Cambridge, Minnesota. Philip and Kayla married at Calvary Baptist Church.
Since their wedding, God has blessed Norwoodville Baptist in incredible ways. A new Sunday evening children’s ministry began that now reaches 20 children, many of whom were formerly unchurched. Four have trusted in Jesus as their personal Savior as a result.
Philip and Kayla have had numerous opportunities to minister in both the church and the community as pastor and wife and eagerly anticipate many more to come. They praise God for His perfect way and His abounding grace in their lives.
