northeast_inlinePREBLE, N.Y.—”Israel and the Church” was the theme of the Northeast Fellowship’s Fall Bible Conference with Dr. Jim Showers, executive director and president of Friends of Israel. The conference was held Oct. 17 at 18 at Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to sessions with Showers, tech workshops discussed social media in relation to ministry and online giving. Preconference sessions were offered for pastors and wives with Jim Vogel, executive director of the Northeast Fellowship, and his wife, Jeannie. Jim talked with the pastors about “Dealing with Discouragement in the Ministry,” and Jeannie met with the pastors’ wives to discuss “The Benefits of Thankfulness.”

During the business meeting, Vogel reports, representatives of churches across New York affirmed a new system to elect the Network Leadership Team (formerly Council of Ten) that includes regional appointments to allow for broader geographical representation.

The Northeast Fellowship holds conferences each fall and spring for all of its churches’ members, not just ministry leaders. “Our goal,” Vogel says, “is to promote learning, mutual edification, and spiritual growth that will glorify God, as well as provide tools that will encourage local churches.”

The spring conference, on “Local Church Outreach Strategies,” will take place April 24 at Breesport (New York) Baptist Church.
