SMITHVILLE FLATTS, N.Y—Camp BaYouCa partnered with the Northeast Fellowship to equip laypeople to minister to teens and to discuss topics pertinent to youth ministry. Twenty-one youth leaders came to the camp for the daylong Equip Conference, which offered workshops on “Basics of Discipleship,” “Reaching the Unreachable,” “Habits of Growing Teens,” “A Biblical Approach to LGBTQ,” “Solving the Mass Exodus Crisis,” and “Carefronting.”
“Solving the Mass Exodus Crisis” discussed why teens walk away from their faith and possible solutions, while “Carefronting” taught how to Biblically and effectively address sin issues with teens. “We usually either tend to ignore an issue when we see it or we blow them out of the water,” conference organizers say. Plenty of great discussion and encouragement took place in all six workshops.
“The Northeast Fellowship and BaYouCa both have a desire to come alongside the local church and assist her in following through on the Great Commission,” says Dave Coy, assistant director of the camp. “We were glad to have many youth leaders come and participate.”
