VERONA, Wis.—Memorial Baptist Church hosted the 2019 Church and Culture Conference, an event of the Wisconsin Association of Regular Baptist Churches. While Memorial Baptist served as the main site of the conference, people met at two additional churches to view a simulcast: Brookridge Church in Plover and Ripon Baptist Church in Ripon.

During the conference April 13, Chris Brauns spoke on “Unpacking Forgiveness.” Brauns (DMin, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary) is the author of a book with the same title, as well as When the Word Leads Your Pastoral Search. Both books are available from Regular Baptist Press.

“We live in a culture where forgiveness is often misunderstood and misapplied,” the WARBC says. So the Church and Culture Conference aimed to “focus on understanding forgiveness Biblically and applying it appropriately.”

With that focus in mind, Brauns “Biblically answered several vital questions on the topic of forgiveness,” says Jeremy Scott, pastor of Memorial Baptist Church. Some of those questions dealt with whether we should forgive someone who hasn’t apologized, how to forgive someone who is no longer alive, and whether we should immediately offer forgiveness for mass murders.
