SPRINGFIELD, Ill.—Since 2010, Berean Baptist Church has been a community partner with its local public elementary school, Southern View. The church shows the love of Jesus by way of school supply donations, coat and mitten drives, and holiday food drives for needy families. The church also provides classroom mentors, lunch buddies, and volunteers for special events. In addition, Pastor David Fox invites the principal to be a special guest in church the Sunday before school starts. “We pray for her, the staff, and the students and families in the year ahead,” Fox says. “I’m also able to pray with her and various teachers in the school as needs arise.”
