MesaAZ_inlineMESA, Ariz.—Calvary Baptist Church ordained J. David Swope. Serving as assistant pastor, he oversees the church’s youth program and ministries for the nursery through young adult ages.

Swope graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary in 2007 with a BS in Biblical studies and exposition. He accepted Christ as his Savior at age 6 and knew when he was 15 that he was called to full-time pastoral ministry. In the fall of 2013, after college and five years of service as an officer with the Polk County, Iowa, Sheriff’s Office, he accepted the position at Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to serving as assistant pastor, he currently also ministers as the church’s interim pastor.

Speaking at the ordination service Feb. 17 were Pastor Tom Petro of Open Door Baptist Church, Prescott Valley, Arizona; Lt. Col., Capt. Tom Bauder, a Civil Air Patrol chaplain endorsed by Regular Baptist Chaplaincy Ministries and retired pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Wakefield, Michigan; and Pastor Ross Swope of University Heights Baptist Church, Evansville, Indiana. Twenty-six messengers representing 15 churches were on hand to sign Swope’s ordination certificate.
