RICHLAND, Wash.—In April of each year, the churches and pastors of the Baptist Network Northwest assemble for their annual meeting. Pastor Jim Mailloux and the staff of First Baptist Church graciously hosted this year’s meeting April 16–18. The 70-plus attendees representing 28 churches from Washington, Oregon, and Idaho enjoyed a great time of fellowship, study, and worship.
“By God’s grace, we connected with Pastor Aaron Patton from Oak Grove Baptist in Kansas City,” says Pete Steele of BNN’s Northwest Youth Ministries. Patton and his brother Alex shared new songs of worship and praise and taught from God’s Word on “Life-Changing Ministry” during five chapel sessions.
Eighteen workshops gave attendees the opportunity to choose from a variety of topics, including church planting; the impact of a reproducing church; ministries to men, people in jail, and those who speak English as a second language; short-term missions trips; a Lamentations ministry model; church health; and dynamic team building.
During a business meeting, delegates elected new Council of Fifteen members. New members are David Lunsford, Tim Baker, Dennis Wilkening, Dan Frank, Andy Grenier, and Donn Mogford. David Thompson shared a report regarding the finances of Northwest Baptist Home Mission, which establishes, aids, and encourages BNN churches. Pete Steele reported on Northwest Youth Ministries, which organizes yearly events for middle school and high school students and their youth workers, and the progress of the multiethnic ministry of International Baptist Church in Portland, Oregon.
