BATAVIA, N.Y.—Grace Baptist Church had the privilege of celebrating two special occasions: Associate Pastor Jeff Bartz’s completion of his DMin degree, and the arrival of a pastoral intern.

Bartz has served at Grace Baptist since 2007 and completed his doctorate in the field of Biblical counseling from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Grace Baptist honored Bartz with a service featuring testimonies of appreciation and commendation by former youth pastor Mark Ferry; youth sponsor Bob Greathouse; and Ike Styer, whom Bartz led to the Lord.

Pastor Donald Shirk presented Bartz with a replica Roman sword. “The gift is symbolic of how the New Testament pictures the power and sufficiency of God’s Word in people’s lives and Pastor Bartz’s skill in using it effectively in both counseling people and training others in that important work,” Shirk says.Corey_inline

The following Sunday, Grace Baptist welcomed pastoral intern Corey Hancock and his wife, Jaycee. Hancock is completing his yearlong pastoral internship to earn his MDiv degree from Baptist Bible Seminary. The church licensed Hancock to preach during the evening service.
