HADDON HEIGHTS, N.J.—The women’s ministry team of Haddon Heights Baptist Church hosted an accessory swap for ladies and their friends.
On Saturday morning, Jan. 28, the swap began with check-in and breakfast. Women of all ages had been invited to bring their gently used and new accessories, trading in each accessory for a ticket to shop; women also received a complimentary ticket just for attending. Then Maureen Redekker shared a devotional about putting on accessories God has given us and encouraged the ladies to find their beauty in the Lord.
Finally, the shopping got under way. Women browsed four boutiques that had been set up in the room, displaying the donated jewelry, handbags, scarves, hats, gloves, purses, and other accessories. Many of the donors shared the interesting history of their items, including their mothers’ vintage jewelry and accessories they had bought in China. Any items remaining at the end of the swap were donated to Cedar Lane Missionary Homes, a housing area in southern New Jersey for missionaries on furlough.
The accessory swap was a first for Haddon Heights Baptist Church, and member Jessica Butts calls it a success. “Haddon Heights Baptist Church was happy to see the women of the church and so many guests coming out not only for a good time but to hear the Word of God presented!” Participants enjoyed the swap so much that they desire to repeat it in the future.
