Carolers from Germantown Hills Baptist

METAMORA, Ill.—A group of young kids from Germantown Hills Baptist Church near Peoria and their intrepid Sunday School teacher, Joyce Donahoe, visited a church plant in Chicago. They arrived downtown via train on the first really cold weekend of the season, but went right to work assembling and giving away small care packages for the homeless in the River North area. After warming up and pizza at the church, they headed out again to sing Christmas carols on the corner of Michigan and Chicago avenues, the busiest shopping area in Chicago. Many shoppers stopped to say thank-you and smile at the rare sight and sound of downtown carolers.

On Sunday the youth blessed the Chicago church folks with two songs. Then it was back out in the cold air for a short shift of passing out fliers for the church. The Chicago church described the group from Germantown Hills as “brave” for doing what they did, remaining energetic, enthusiastic, and productive for God’s glory despite the weather.
