Debra accepted Christ’s free gift of eternal life as a sixth grader while attending her church’s Pioneer Girls program. On June 20, 1970, she married her high school sweetheart, Bradley Quick. These two life-changing decisions were the foundations upon which the remainder of her days were formed and blessed.
Debra graduated from Harper Hospital Nursing School in Detroit and went on to work as a nurse in ICU and then geriatrics, always showing compassion to her patients.
She loved serving as the pastor’s wife at First Baptist Church, Elyria, Ohio, where she ministered alongside her husband for 26 years. Before arriving at First Baptist, the Quicks were pastor and wife at Wawasee Heights Baptist Church, Syracuse, Ind.; Union Baptist Church, Union, Ind.; and First Baptist Church, Blanchester, Ohio.
Brad preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her father, Luther Vires; and four unborn grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Kim Kerr and Kevin Quick; six grandchildren; her, mother Bobby Jean Vires; and her siblings, Pam Wasko, Carol Vires, Robert Vires and James Vires.
