Arleen “Ginger” Olson (1922–2010)

MESA, Ariz.—Arleen “Ginger” Olson, who served alongside her husband, a pastor, for 55 years, died on Sept. 21, 2010. She was 88.

After graduating from high school in Lake Crystal, Minn., Arleen enrolled in a secretarial course at Northwestern Bible Institute in Minneapolis. There she met Irwin Olson, a seminary student. They were married on Sept. 3, 1943. She served as her husband’s secretary during 55 years of his 65-year pastoral ministry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Elmer and Lillian Nelson; a sister, Angie Raper; and a brother, Dean Nelson.

She is survived by her husband, Irwin; a sister, Joan Salseth; a brother, John Nelson; five children, Sheryl Fox, Steve Olson, Linda Swank, Julie Compton, and Debra Craig; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
