Western Weekend at Faith Baptist Church

CAMP POINT, Ill.What do horses, great preaching, singing, food, and a campfire all have in common? They were all part of the Western Weekend at Faith Baptist Church. The western decorations, including saddles, cowboy hats, and boots and an indoor campfire clearly displayed the theme for the weekend throughout the church.

On Friday evening, David Little, president of Baptist Church Planters, challenged the church family to “Ride for the Brand” as faithful followers of Jesus Christ.

The big event of the weekend was the trail ride on Saturday morning. With beautiful fall weather (an answer to prayer), riders on 25 horses enjoyed the trails of a local state park. Following the trail ride, everyone gathered for a beans and biscuit lunch and an evangelistic challenge from Dr. Little.

“Praise the Lord for the opportunity to share the gospel,” says Tom Robbins, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, adding that more than half of the riders were guests.

Horse rides for children, s’mores, singing, a devotional by Dr. Little, and wonderful fellowship describe the scene at the campfire on the church grounds Saturday evening under a clear, moonlit sky.

The weekend concluded with special Sunday services with Dr. Little and a carry-in dinner at noon. An enthusiastic “yee-haw!” by the congregation on Sunday morning was a testimony to the success of the weekend by the grace of God.
