Teaming Up for Outreach

HACKENSACK, N.J.—A missions crew from First Baptist Church teamed up with Faith Baptist Church of Glendale, Ariz., for a week of outreach. Youth Pastor George Ward headed up the 14-member team from New Jersey, while Pastor Wayne Dale headed up the group from Arizona. Then everyone worked together under Pastor Alberto Marquez of Faith Baptist.

In the cooler morning hours, the two churches distributed over 1,000 flyers, and in the evening they ran a VBS program for all ages, including adults. Teens and adults from both churches took different parts in presenting the Bible lessons, puppets, skits, songs, crafts, and games. The closing day had an attendance of 77. While both teams did a lot of “planting and watering,” God “gave the increase,” as three people accepted Jesus as their Savior.

During the week the New Jersey team also assisted the pastors’ wives with their ministry of teaching English to up-and-coming minor league baseball players. Spending time with some of the different families in the church was part of the agenda as well.

“The teams from both churches learned how to work together, and God built wonderful connections between the two churches,” says Youth Pastor George Ward. “Everyone looks forward to working together again in the future should the Lord allow.”
