Grace Baptist Church of Harlan, Iowa, sponsored its third annual Men’s Leadership Conference on January 12 and 13, titled “Developing Men’s Ministry in Your Local Church.” Pastor Duke Crawford of Calvary Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant was the featured speaker, assisted by six men from the Calvary Ironmen ministry. The conference was attended by about fifty men from various churches in the Iowa Association. Brother Crawford gave challenges in the areas of why men are to lead and how to develop leaders, and he outlined the history and details of the Ironman ministry.
The host pastor, Greg White, challenged the men with counting the cost of beginning a men’s ministry. The Ironmen ministered to the group with testimonies in each conference session. The seminar concluded with the Calvary Baptist Ironmen conducting an actual Ironman discipleship session with those who attended. This session gave the men a hands-on look at how the Ironmen ministry operates. The conference also featured great fellowship, as well as the huge annual Saturday morning “biscuit and gravy, egg casserole, and waffle” breakfast provided by the Grace Baptist men.
Mark your calendar for next year’s conference, January 11 and 12, 2008. John Greening, GARBC National Representative, will be the featured speaker.
