FLINT, Mich.—For some people, Valentine’s Day is a day to spend with loved ones, while for others, it brings feelings of homesickness—particularly for those away in college or the military.

South Baptist Church brought a bit of “home” to 24 of its members and friends when it shipped care packages of sweet treats and loving greetings this Valentine’s Day.

Project Coordinator Becky Shipp was a recipient herself when she was in college, she told The Flint Township View. Now, the Friday before Valentine’s Day, she was joining about 15 church members in packing up boxes for others. Seven were shipped to service members; the rest were disbursed to college students across the country.
