MASON CITY, Iowa—Faith Baptist Church has ordained Scott Greening, also voting to commission him and his wife, Brooke, for missionary service. Scott is the ninth generation of Greenings to be ordained as a Baptist pastor; the service was marked by the attendance of his grandmother, Iva Greening, who is 95 years old.
Three days before the ordination service, the church convened an ordination council to examine the candidate. After the examination, the council recommended that the church proceed with the ordination, and also commended Pastor Scott for his thorough preparation, his thoughtful responses, and his humble demeanor.
Scott and Brooke plan to relocate to the Chicago area to start a church plant as Baptist Church Planters missionaries. The church received an offering to help the Greenings during their transition.
