The Javaux family, from Silvis Heights Baptist Church, Silvis, IL, decided to make an impact on Lancaster, PA, when attending this year’s GARBC Conference.
Starting back in February, the Lord was working in the hearts of the Javaux children. The children called a family meeting to discuss how they could make the most out of attending the Conference. Their thought was that since the Conference was so far away from home, they should combine attending the Conference with taking part in a missions trip.
The Javaux family then learned of Fellowship Baptist Church in York, PA. The church’s missionary pastor, William Kuhn of Continental Baptist Missions, had gone home to Heaven in October 2006. His wife, Sandra, still faithfully serves Fellowship Baptist. As a family, the Javauxs, along with Jessica Roberts from Alton, IL (Brown Street Baptist), attended the Conference and then ministered to Fellowship Baptist Church.
Jessica did not hesitate to join in with the family as they taught Sunday School classes, conducted children’s church, staffed the nursery, performed special music, and preached at the church. Sandra Kuhn graciously hosted the Javaux family and Jessica the whole week of the Conference. On the weekend following the Conference, the Javauxs and Jessica not only helped the church but also completed a number of projects around Sandra’s home.
Pastor Greg Javaux says, “It was a wonderful trip. We experienced the joy that comes from serving others for Jesus’ sake and we were also blessed by seeing the joy in Sandra as she served us.”
