New Baptistry for Lake in the Hills

Lake in the Hills, Ill.—New Life Baptist Church in Lake in the Hills, Ill., observed its first baptismal service in its own facility last Sunday by baptizing five individuals following the morning worship service. The portable baptistry that Pastor Mark Wood used to baptize the two adults and three children was purchased through a $15,000 grant from the Baptist Builders Club. That grant also helped the church purchase new chairs for its auditorium and new sound equipment following a major renovation project. After ten years as a church plant supported by the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism, New Life graduated earlier this spring to self-supporting status and has about 115 in attendance. Last year, the church bought the 8,600-square-foot commercial property from its landlord. The remodeling project was completed through the work of church members and ABWE support personnel.
