Iowa TFC Competition

More than 130 teens representing 30 different churches gathered at Grandview Park Baptist Church in Des Moines, Iowa, to participate in the 43rd Annual Iowa Talents For Christ (TFC) state competition. During the opening general session, Pastor Adam Standley, from Hagerman Baptist Church in Waterloo, challenged the teens to make it their aim to please Christ (2 Corinthians 5:9 and 10). Group and individual competitions lasted four hours. More than 600 competitors and spectators attended the closing award service, during which the Faith Baptist Bible College summer ministry team “Faith Alive!” ministered, along with TFC individuals Mary Liebert (Piano), Joshua Nemmers (Preaching) and Taylor Katz (Brass).

A first-time spectator shared, ”I am so amazed at the talent and the willingness of our Iowa teens to use their talents for the Lord. For me as an adult, it is very convicting and challenging whether I am doing all that I can for Christ.” In addition to preparing for the upcoming national competition in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, most of the first- and second-place state winners will also participate in the Iowa TFC tour, ministering in seven different Iowa churches during the week of June 9.
