SOUTH OTSELIC, N.Y.—“God, Government and the Pastor” was the topic for the fall Shop Talk of the Empire State Fellowship of Regular Baptist Churches, held Nov. 12 at First Baptist Church. Tom Stiles, director of church relations of the New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms, spoke during the four-hour session on the Biblical foundations and philosophy of American government, issues confronting the Christian community, defending faith, family and freedom, and a historic perspective on pastors and politics.

The 41 pastors and laypeople who attended received two books written by David Gibbs Jr. and David Gibbs III, Understanding the Constitution: Ten Things Every Christian Should Know about the Supreme Law of the Land and One Nation Under God: Ten Things Every Christian Should Know about the Founding of America

The host church, under Pastor James Moore’s leadership, provided snacks and lunch, allowing for an informal time for fellowship, discussion, and interaction by these choice servants of God. Tom Stiles reinforced in his concluding remarks that “America’s greatest need is not political but revival.” Attendees were reminded to praise God for our country and pray for its leaders. The talk was timely, helpful, and informative.
