WATKINS GLEN, N.Y.—On a beautiful summer Saturday, 40 young adults connected with God and others at Connect, hosted by Glen Baptist Church, where Teddy Herron is pastor. Connect, a daylong event sponsored by the Empire State Fellowship of Regular Baptist Churches, is designed to encourage young adults in their Christian lives as they walk in the world they live in.
Dave Mayner, Baptist Mid-Missions missionary to college students, and Mark Ferry, pastor of West Genesee Hills Baptist Church, Camillus, N.Y, spoke on “Living the Pure Life” and “The Naked Truth about Modesty.” Two workshops, or “connectors,” advised the young adults on developing personal relationships and challenged them to do more in their churches than just say, “I’ll think about It.” A D & D time (Dessert and Discussion) gave small groups the opportunity to reflect on what they had heard and resulted in helpful interaction.
Brandon Craig, youth pastor at Glen Baptist Church, oversaw “connect” games. Joel Banyai of West Genesee Hills Baptist Church, lead the group in singing praises to the Lord. A majority of the young adults concluded the meaningful day with a boat ride on the scenic Seneca Lake.
