YORKSHIRE, N.Y.—Dr. Dan Anderson, president of Appalachian Bible College, Bradley, W.Va., spoke at the Spring Conference of the Empire State Fellowship of Regular Baptist Churches on April 20 and 21. His four expositional messages from the life of Jeremiah focused on personal purity.
Steve and Becky Little, missionaries with Baptist Church Planters, taught the men’s and women’s split sessions on how to keep oneself pure (1 Timothy 5:22). A panel of four (Erik Lutz, a teenager; Laura Lindmark, a pastor’s wife; John Congdon, a layperson; and Craig Brittingham, a pastor) answered numerous practical questions on ways a Christian can protect his or her purity.
In addition to the preaching and teaching, the Fellowship Faithful Award was presented to Maynard Stevens for his 31 years as pastor at his present church, Italy Hill Baptist of Branchport. Special honor and appreciation were given to the “Builders in the Bronx” Ted and Jenell Lozier (Continental Baptist Missions), Mike and Peggy Carr, and Shaun and Valerie Genung for the construction of a lovely church building in the heart of the Bronx.
The host church of the conference, Central Baptist, provided outstanding music throughout the two-day conference, with First Baptist Church of Marilla joining Central for a mini concert. The 275 in attendance enjoyed singing under the leadership of Mike Briggs, eating Tuesday’s lunch together in the church’s gymnasium, fellowshipping with other believers from 61 churches in New York, and feasting on the meat of God’s Word.
