FORT DODGE, Iowa—Pastor Mike Crawford of Faith Baptist Church has resigned his church to become a full-time chaplain with the Iowa National Guard, serving in support of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team (2BCT) headquartered in Boone, Iowa.

Crawford’s new position will focus on the family needs of more than 3,300 personnel who are preparing for a possible deployment. He had served at the Fort Dodge church for 14 years.

“The church has been very supportive through the deployments and demands of the Guard and stands behind me in this ministry move,” Crawford said of his recent appointment. “We greatly appreciate them and know God will bring them a pastor to lead them forward.”

Chaplain Crawford began his new position on Sept. 1, but will continue to provide pulpit supply for the Fort Dodge church through October.

“I’ve always appreciated the incredible prayer support from our state fellowship and friends across the country, and ask again that you ask the Lord to grant wisdom and direction as we develop this new position to strengthen military families spiritually to the glory of God,” Chaplain Crawford said.
