Wisconsin Association Elects New State Representative

By December 1, 2023No Comments

The Wisconsin Association of Regular Baptist Churches has a new state representative. Voting at the WARBC’s annual conference, attendees elected Norman Smith to serve in the role, taking over responsibilities from Steve Schultz, who retired September 30.

In addition to serving as state representative, Norman is part of ABWE’s EveryEthnē, focusing on supporting pastors and churches in fulfilling the Great Commission in the Midwest and around the world. He was previously the field team leader for ABWE Japan and is the author of What Do I Do Now: A Process for Making God-Honoring Decisions and Pre-Field with a Purpose: A Guide for New Missionaries.

Brookridge Church, Plover, Wisconsin, hosted the conference October 22–23. The theme was “Snapshots from Church History.” Kicking off the event on Sunday evening, Jeremy Scott, WARBC state educator, led a session asking, “Why study church history?” The next day, pastors presented six snapshots from church history, offering summaries of the lives and influence of John Chrysostom, Martin Luther, John Knox, Theodore Beza, Katharina von Bora, and John Bunyan.

“I’m thankful for the pastors in the WARBC who prepare and present at our conferences,” Jeremy says.

The conference also doubled as the WARBC’s annual meeting. In addition to electing a new state representative, attendees also elected members to the association’s council. Those elected are pastors Rodney Schuler, Steve Abrams, Brian Richard, Scott Burrow, Josh Sherman, and Andrew Wilson.

Bill Mattox, pastor of Meadowood Baptist Church in Madison, thanks “the churches of the WARBC who have allowed their pastors to serve on this year’s council.” Bill served as the council chair last year. He says, “It has been my pleasure to serve with this group of men who love the Lord and are desirous to see God do even greater things in our state.”
