High school students and young adults from Soteria Des Moines “enjoyed an amazing time” on the church’s survival trip in Wisconsin Dells June 11–15.
“Students and leaders were pushed out of their comfort zones and encouraged to rely on each other and on God,” the church says.
Experienced instructors taught basic survival skills and problem-solving, including navigation, tools, knots, and foraging. The training culminated in a team survival challenge that applied what the participants had learned.
Other activities including hiking, repelling, tent camping, spending time in God’s Word, and studying and practicing prayer as individuals and a group.
The trip, the church says, enabled students “to get out in God’s creation while also getting in His Word.”
