Scottish Games Come to Ohio Men’s Retreat

CampPatmos_inline KELLEYS ISLAND, Ohio—Camp Patmos was pleased to host another men’s retreat with Northfield (Ohio) Baptist Church. Men from Northern Ohio, Illinois, and Michigan enjoyed Highland-style games with events like the hammer throw, sledge hammer toss, boulder toss, and—the highlight—the caber toss. Kilts were not required but gave some the occasion to work on their Scottish brogue and earn extra man points.

Other tournaments involved fierce competition in Ping-Pong, carpet ball, and corn hole. During more serious times, Duke Crawford, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Toledo, exhorted the men CampPatmos2_inlineto “fear not!”

In summarizing, Dave Sellers says, “The Lord has fought the battles for us, especially the biggest battle we would ever have with sin and death. Jesus has already won the battle and gives us the victory.”

He and missionaries in attendance reported on their ministries. Sellers invites men to plan to attend next year’s retreat, Sept. 10–12, 2015, with Pastor Matt Herron from Sojourn Church, Traverse City, Mich., as speaker.
