David Strope, GARBC interim national representative, spoke in two Arizona churches this month: Faith Baptist Church in Glendale, and Sahuaro Baptist Church in Tucson.
Faith Baptist Church holds two services each Sunday morning, one in Spanish and the second one in English. David spoke in both services April 16, with Pastor Alberto Marquez translating for David in the second service.
“Alberto wanted me to say nice things about him,” David said in his sermon. Alberto, standing beside David, rolled his eyes. “I told you I won’t translate anything nice about myself,” he said. Thus, the preaching portion of the Spanish service began with laughter in the room.
David shared with both the Spanish and English language congregations the purpose of Regular Baptist Ministries and preached on God’s grace.
The following Sunday, David spoke at Sahuaro Baptist Church, pastored by James Kester, a roommate of David’s when they attended Clarks Summit University. Hosting David was a privilege, the church says. He shared with the church an update about Regular Baptist Ministries and preached in the morning service.
While in the Phoenix area, David also met with several other local pastors.
