Calvary Baptist Church, Rochester, Minnesota, ordained Jonathan Eads.
Jonathan joined Calvary Baptist as associate pastor in 2022. His responsibilities include overseeing family and student ministries. In addition, he serves on the Council of Seven for the Minnesota Association of Regular Baptist Churches and is a pastor-trustee for Bass Lake Camp in Winnebago.
A gathering of 57 people from 22 churches took place November 16 to assess Jonathan’s doctrinal capabilities. The council praised Calvary Baptist for its unwavering support of Jonathan. The council’s unanimous recommendation to ordain him highlighted his gracious demeanor, eagerness to learn, and humble recognition of his limitations.
Greg Linscott, pastor of Calvary Baptist, served as the council’s secretary. Steven Gilbertson, a pastor with whom Jonathan partnered in a church planting endeavor in Woodbury, Minnesota, from 2013 to 2022, led the council.
Steven also spoke in the ordination service November 19. He gave a charge to the congregation, emphasizing from Ephesians 4:13 the importance of respecting and loving Jonathan as a gift from God.
Doug Brown, seminary dean and director of the MDiv program at Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary, delivered a powerful charge to the candidate, reminding him from 1 Timothy 6:11–16 of the significance of being a “man of God.”
Leading in prayer were Darrell Friar, state representative of the Minnesota Association of Regular Baptist Churches, and Ben Flegal, assistant professor of Bible and church ministries at Maranatha Baptist University.
