Central Baptist Church, Binghamton, New York, hosted a Rise Up men’s conference February 21–22.
The conference is an annual event for the Northeast Fellowship. This year, “through extensive prayer, planning, and seeking just the right speaker, the conference addressed the theme ‘Conquer the Mountain,’” says Brian King, executive director of the Northeast Fellowship.
Speaker Mark Willey used “the Alps” as an acrostic for Anger, Lust, and Pride, three mountains of temptation that men face, Brian says. Mark had just returned from a trip to the Alps and “shared powerfully and personally from Scripture with a session on each topic.”
Mark retired from the pastorate of Fellowship Community Church, Mount Laurel, New Jersey, in October 2024. He had started the church in 1981.
Along with hearing from Mark, the men attended three of 14 workshops that furthered the theme.
Brian says, “The Lord blessed, with men making commitments toward baptism, entering pastoral ministry, and many resolving to overcome ‘the Alps’ in their own lives.”
