The California Association of Regular Baptist Churches, now in its 96th year, gathered for its annual meetings at Grace Baptist Church, Redding, California, April 1–3. The event took place in tandem with the Alpha-Omega Conference, sponsored annually by Shasta Bible College and Graduate School.
Grace Baptist Church, where Jon Cook (in photo above) is pastor, provided “delicious meals” and “a beautiful setting” for the state association’s meetings, the CARBC says.
Norman Walker, CARBC state representative, set the tone the first evening through his message titled, “The Bible: The Bottom Line,” emphasizing the sufficiency of Scripture.
The next two days featured speakers from the Alpha-Omega Conference: Randy Guliuzza, president of the Institute for Creation Research, spoke on “Debunking of Real Evolution,” “Creation Exalts the Name of Jesus,” and “Creation, Christians, and Courage.” Dan Biddle, founder and president of Genesis Apologetics, presented “The Bible, Nephilim, and Giants” and “Dinosaurs and Dragons: Are the Legends Correct?” John Feinberg, who recently retired as a professor at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, shared his scholarly perspective on “Personhood and Free Choice: The Abortion Debate” and “Why I Believe in a Pre-Tribulation Rapture.” Tom Meyer, known as the Bible Memory Man, spoke the entire book of 2 Peter from memory.
In the CARBC’s business session taking place during the meetings, voting attendees reviewed the past year, elected two men to serve on the council, and approved a first reading of updates and revisions to the CARBC’s constitution.
“As always, the state meetings provided a cherished time of renewing friendships and Standing Together to Build Strong, Biblical Churches,” the CARBC says.
