Saint Ansgar (Iowa) Baptist Church celebrated its 50th anniversary. During the service, the congregation surprised Aaron Moore (above) by honoring his 10th anniversary as pastor of the church.
Tim Capon, state representative of the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches, encouraged the church to rejoice in the goodness of God by reflecting on all that He’s done in the life of the church. He also challenged the church to remember its mission: making disciples of Christ.
“During the service the Great Commission happened!” Aaron says. “One young man placed his faith in Christ during the sermon, and two young people were baptized by their father, who with his wife had led them to Christ.”
A meal preceded an afternoon service honoring Jim and Nancy Bell, founding members of the church.
“Testimonies were shared that led to plenty of tears,” Aaron says. Another founding member, Wayne Ryan, “told ‘just one more story’ about 10 times. His stories from the past did not focus on the building but the lives impacted by the ministry! May God continue to impact Saint Ansgar through the church!”
