The Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches met for its fall conference October 21–23 at Grace Baptist Church, Canton, Ohio.
The theme “A Call to Courage” challenged attendees to pursue personal discipleship with courage and challenged churches to courageously take the leap of faith in planting a church. Keynote speakers were Jeff Halsted, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Clare Jewell (above), national representative of the GARBC.
Clare also led a seminar for men while ladies enjoyed fellowship and teaching with Jeff’s wife, Robin. “Hosted by the staff and pastors’ wives of Grace, [the ladies’ session] was a good time to get acquainted with fun mixer games and delicious snacks,” says Linda Pausley, whose husband, Chuck, is state representative of the OARBC.
A “Welcome and Well Done” dinner honored new pastors and their wives, as well as pastors who had retired in the past year.
Fellowship opportunities were also part of the schedule: Regular Baptist Ministries sponsored lunch one afternoon. Baptist Church Planters hosted a dessert reception. And Camp Patmos, Skyview Ranch, and Scioto Hills Christian Camp and Retreat Center sponsored breakfast while sharing what God is doing in their camps’ ministries.
“God certainly blessed our 2024 OARBC Conference with great worship in music and preaching and opportunities for fellowship,” Chuck says. “Pastor Dave Ryan and associates Ken Floyd and Matt Hutchens, along with church secretary Linda Mulanax and the entire church family, hosted exceptionally well. They recruited other pastors and churches from the area to share in the blessing. It was truly a great conference.”
