Bible Baptist Church, Central Lake, Michigan, celebrated its 75th anniversary August 10 with morning and afternoon worship services and lunch together.
The guest speaker for the worship services was Jason DeVrou, a pastor in Michigan who grew up attending Bible Baptist Church and was ordained there in 2008. “He was one of these people who never planned to be in the ministry,” said Pastor Russell Tharp. “He just kept saying yes to God.”
Jason told the congregation, “This little dot of a church in the middle of nowhere has done tremendous things for the kingdom of God. And I praise the Lord for that. This is God’s church.”
Russell Tharp has been pastor of the church since 2007. His wife, Julie, shared with the congregation, “We asked the Lord many years ago, before we came here, to send us to a place where we could dig our roots deep.” She and Russell are “so thankful” for Bible Baptist Church, she said.
