Shawnee Hills Baptist Church, Jamestown, Ohio, celebrated its 50th anniversary.
“What a flood of memories for us as we remembered being part of that original group that planted SHBC,” says Ken Van Loon, a founding member and the first missionary sent from the church.
The church was planted with “a handful of believers who met in a home Bible study in 1974, burdened to begin a church in their town,” says the Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches. “With the support of area churches, the help of Earl Umbaugh—state missionary of the OARBC—and God’s blessing, the church began and has touched thousands of lives with the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
Adam McCune (above) has been pastor of the church since 2020.
Since its founding, “God has blessed us beyond what we ever could have asked or imagined,” the church says. “We ask Him to continue to bless our labors in His name for the future.”
