Abram Creek Baptist Church, Brook Park, Ohio, honored James Beight for serving as its pastor for 30 years.
James began his ministry to many in the congregation in 1994, at Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Cleveland. In 2009, that church merged with another in Brook Park, Ohio. He became the pastor of the combined ministry, called Abram Creek Baptist Church.
That merger was “such a blessing” that “only God could get the credit for it,” he said during a worship service marking his ministry milestone.
“We know that the way God has provided for us [as a church] in the past is just an indication of what He will and can do for us in the future,” he told the congregation. Then he added, “I’m really excited about what the Lord is going to do in our future.”
During that service he introduced Jeffery Cunningham Jr. as an addition to the church’s staff. Jeffery will be a chaplain for the church.
In the weeks he’s not serving in the military as a chaplain, he will serve full-time with Abram Creek Baptist Church to help “carry of the load” of the church’s ministry, James says, and to expand the church’s reach into its community.
The church says, “We are excited to have [Jeff and his wife, Maggie] on our staff and to see how the Lord is going to use them to help spread God’s Word!”
