100 Years of Ministry in Flint, Michigan

By September 22, 2023No Comments

Riverdale Baptist Church, Flint, Michigan, celebrated its 100th anniversary. The church family marked the milestone with dinner and a concert at a park Sept. 9 and a worship service and lunch the next day.

“Psalm 126:3 says that the Lord has done great things, and we’re so glad, we’re so thankful for everything that God’s done in and through this ministry,” says Pastor Cory Snyder.

The church family is now looking forward to its Judea Project Oct. 7. On that Saturday, members will meet at the church for prayer and a quick breakfast and will then go to areas in the community to serve in projects they had signed up for. The Judea Project is an annual event, now in its fifth year, for the church’s Arise outreach ministry.

“We as a group of believers are called to wake up and ‘Arise’ to the world that so desperately needs the love of Jesus,” the church says. “Jesus calls us to be His hands and feet, and through Arise ministries we intend to use every opportunity to spread the gospel of Christ.”

The name Judea in Judea Project comes from Acts 1:8: “You shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

The church explains that its Jerusalem is its own church body, while Judea is the city and township of Flint. The church’s Samaria is the state of Michigan and the United States, and “the end of the earth” is outside the US.

Thinking in these terms, the church serves others and shares Christ not only in its own congregation but also locally and globally.
