Brainerd Church Celebrates 50th Anniversary

BRAINERD, Minn.—Sweet fellowship permeated Faith Baptist Church’s 50th anniversary,  a time of rejoicing in “God’s Good Hand Upon Us.” Many past members took the time to travel to the event. Each service featured two testimonies; one person shared about being  led to Christ through the ministry of Faith Baptist, and another shared how the church impacted his life through discipleship. The testimonies were a wonderful reminder of how God has worked in changing lives.

On  Saturday evening, Jeff Pernsteiner, who was once Faith Baptist’s pastoral intern and is now pastoring in Idaho, shared a challenge to help guests remember “God’s Good Hand on Us in the Past.” On Sunday morning Pastor Al Anger, the founding pastor of Faith Baptist, reminded the congregation of “God’s Good Hand on Us in the Present.” Faith Baptist Church was  privileged to license Chris Erickson as a minister of the gospel during this service. Chris grew up at Faith Baptist, graduated from seminary this spring, and will now be serving as the church’s pastoral intern for two years.

Following an outdoor hog roast, Pastor Jake Heppner preached in an afternoon service on “Seeking God’s Good Hand on Us in the Future.” He was Faith Baptist’s assistant pastor for seven years before moving on to pastor at Southbrook Baptist Church, Wadena, Minn.

Ladies of the church had prepared a “Walk to Remember” in the fellowship hall that chronologically featured pictures from each decade of the church’s existence.
